Criteria of Beauty

Exhibition Closing

Curated by Helena Capkova, Criteria of Beauty is an exhibition of work by Japanese artists who have practiced or studied in the UK. The artists were selected by a competition – in which they were asked to approach the “12 Criteria of Beauty” coined by Japanese art theoretician Sōetsu Yanagi in the 1920s, and create original works that might address the relevance of his statements in the context of 21st Century Britain. A closing party, with Japanese beer and snacks, will take place as part of First Thursdays, a series of late night openings in East London.
