Sigune Hamann works with photography and video. Her projects operate in the space between the still and the moving image: she experiments with images created through movement, and explores narrative structures through panoramic still images, moving images and language.

Hamann has captured the dynamics of various public environments using her process of ‘tracing’ to create photographic film-strips. Informed by her experience of collaboration with the performing arts, sequential installations and internet works combine elements of fiction and fact while suggesting a continuity of time.

Hamann was born in Frankfurt am Main, and trained at the Hochschule der Kunste Berlin before completing an MA (Distinction) at the Royal College of Art, London. She is presently preparing work for a solo exhibition at the Gallery of Photography, Dublin (2008).

Recent projects include the permanent installation the moment we knew nothing of each other (2007) a large scale photographic diorama for Northampton Theatres ; and heimlich (2007) a series of photographs and video works produced as TrAIN Artist in Residence at the Kunstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral.
