TrAIN Ph.D. Student Anne Luther - Research Fellowship at The Parsons Institute for Information Mapping (PIIM) May/June 2013

My research investigates differing collecting networks, questions the notion of a structured group concept of contemporary art collectors, and explores the varied roles that collectors perform in contemporary art production since 2000.
During the research fellowship at PIIM I will explore possible impact and limitation of data visualisation as part of the evaluation of qualitative data. Why and how to use visualisation tools in the context of qualitative data evaluation? What are the limitations and advantages of this research method?
‘The Parsons Institute for Information Mapping (PIIM) is a Research, Development and Professional Services facility within The New School, whose mission is to advance the field of Knowledge Visualization through academic and commercial pursuits.’ ( The research fellowship is supported by the UAL Research Degree Student Support Fund.
